Adel Eldahmy, MD, MBA founded Telemed Foundation in 2012. Dr. Eldahmy is the Medical Director of two out-patient Behavioral Health Clinics in Southern California, Laguna Behavioral and MD Laguna.
In 1975, Dr. Eldahmy received his Medical degree from Ain Shams School of Medicine in Cairo-Egypt and then completed his residency in Psychiatry and Neurology at the University of California, Irvine in 1984, after which he went in to private practice in Southern California. His fellowship in Psychiatry included the Eating Disorders Program at the University of California, Irvine. In 1997, Dr. Eldahmy received his HealthCare MBA from the University of California, Irvine.
Dr. Eldahmy has served as Medical Director at the Long Beach Behavioral Clinic, Long Beach Eating Disorders Clinic, the Long Beach Psychiatric Center, and for Charter out-patient clinics in Los Alamitos, CA. He also served as chief of staff at Los Altos Hospital in Long Beach, CA.

Michael A. Michalske, a partner in the law firm of Russell, Kendall & Michalske LLP has practiced commercial real estate law for over thirty years. Mr. Michalske began his real estate law practice with First Interstate Bank and subsequently as Associate General Counsel with Coldwell Banker Management Corporation where he was to become a department head and Associate General Counsel dealing exclusively with real estate and real estate finance. At Genesis Group, a major development company, and its major affiliates, Independence Savings & Loan Association and Silverado Country Club, Mr. Michalske was responsible for major loans, real estate acquisitions and sales, land use and governmental entitlements, construction contracts and property management. Mr. Michalske's current private practice includes a wide range of real estate investor transactions from acquisition and due diligence evaluation, entity creation and structuring to financing, entitlements, development, construction, leasing and sales of major investment and development transactions. Mr. Michalske holds a bachelor’s degree from St. Louis University (where he was a National Merit Scholar), a law degree from Case Western Reserve University (where he was an Elihu Root Scholar), and an MBA with a specialization in finance from the University of Southern California. He is a retired officer with twenty years in the US Navy JAG Corps.
Hamdy A. Abbass received his Bachelors of Arts in Plant Pathology from the University of Alexandria, Egypt in June of 1975. Mr Abbass’ coursework provided him with a strong foundation in both insurance and financial planning. He earned a Life Underwriter Training Certified Fellowship (LUTCF) designation and is fluent in both Arabic and English.
Mr Abbass held intern and management positions before becoming an Insurance and Financial advisor with The Prudential Insurance Company in 1987. He currently holds licenses in Life and Health, Property and Casualty, and has Series 6 and Series 63 Security Registrations.
From 1996 to the present, Mr Abbass has been involved with multiple organizations including UC Davis School of Law Pre-Law Outreach Boot Camp program, Student’s For Human Rights in the America’s, Students for Justice & Peace, The Coalition of Concerned Legal Professionals, Professional Chair of Law for Phi Alpha Delta International Pre-Law Fraternity, and the National Alopecia Areata Foundation.
Hisham Abdel-Azim, MD is a bone marrow transplant-pediatric Hematology/Oncology physician. Dr. Abdel Azim is currently part of the faculty at USC Keck School of Medicine. He is also an attending physician at Children's Hospital Los Angeles in the Children's Center for Cancer and Blood Disease, as well as the bone marrow transplant program. He is the Director of the clinical immunology lab; the flow cytometry/sorting research core and the associate director of the hematopoietic stem cell processing lab. His expertise spans the field of clinical bone marrow transplantation; laboratory hematopoietic stem cell processing and Hematology/Oncology; laboratory evaluation of hematological malignancies and minimal residual disease assessment as well as immune reconstitution and evaluation.
Dr. Abdel-Azim graduated from Cairo University, received his initial training at the NCI Cairo in Egypt and continued training in the United States. He performed his residency at New York Medical College and held fellowships at USC and CHLA.
Lawrence Albers, MD is Clinical Professor of Psychiatry & Human Behavior at the University Of California Irvine College Of Medicine. He is the Chief of Psychiatry and Chief of the Mental Health Care Group at the Long Beach VA Healthcare System. Dr. Albers earned his bachelors degree in psychology and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from UCLA. He subsequently received his medical degree from UC San Diego School of Medicine and completed a residency in psychiatry at UC Irvine.
Dr. Albers has been voted Teacher of the Year by the psychiatry residents at UC Irvine and is a recipient of the West Coast College of Biological Psychiatry Faculty Research Award. He has been the Principal Investigator or Co-investigator on various clinical trials in mood and psychotic disorders with an emphasis on drug-drug interactions.
He has numerous publications in psychopharmacology and is Co-author of two Current Clinical Strategies books in Psychiatry and Psychiatric Drugs. His primary research interest is in pharmacogenetics and he has been a member of the planning committee for two international meetings of the Pacific Rim Association for Clinical Pharmacogenetics. His current clinical focus is in the treatment of refractory mood and anxiety disorders.
Mohamed A. El-Shahawy, MD, MPH, MHA is currently the Transplant Nephrologist and Islet Transplant Physician at City of Hope National Medical Center. Dr. El-Shahawy is also Professor of Medicine at both the City of Hope National Medical Center and KECK-USC School of Medicine.
Dr. El-Shahawy graduated with Honors from Cairo University Faculty of Medicine with his Medical Doctorate (MD) in 1979. He later received his Master in Health Administration (MHA) from USC School of Policy, Planning, and Development and his Master in Public Health (MPH) from KECK-USC School of Medicine. Dr. El-Shahawy initially trained in Internal Medicine while in Cairo and later held both an internship and a residency at St. Mary's Hospital, Yale University School of Medicine. He had fellowships for Kidney Diseases and Transplantation at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and Nephrology at LAC/USC Medical Center. Since receiving his education, Dr. El-Shahawy has been published multiple times, contributed to many peer reviews, and presented in national meetings and scientific symposia.
Dr. El-Shahawy holds local, national, and international society memberships including the Egyptian Syndicate of Physicians, the American Society of Transplantation, and the Los Angeles County Professional Staff Association. He is also a reviewer of scientific journals including the New England Journal of Medicine, the American Journal of Nephrology, and the American Journal of Kidney Diseases.
Dr. Nasr Ghoniem is a Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering professor at UCLA. He was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Mechanics in 20120. Dr. Ghoniem's main areas of interest include the material defects and degradation in mechanical design, plasma and laster processing, and radiation interaction with materials. He has collaborated with others to publish multiple articles discussing a variety of subjects including the development of structural material and interactions of specific materials with different elements.
Tarek I Hassanein, MD, FACP, FACG, AGAF is prominent in the fields of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Internal Medicine. Dr Hassanein is currently the Medical Director of Southern California Liver Centers and Director of Clinical Trials at Southern California Research Center. He is Professor of Medicine at the School of Medicine, University of California San Diego in San Diego, CA. He is the Associate Director of Liver Transplantation at Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla, CA and Chief of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Sharp Coronado Hospital in Coronado, CA. Dr Hassanein has received a multitude of awards including United States Senate Certificate of Commendation and Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition. He has participated in numerous research studies since 1996, most recently dealing with the treatment of Hepatitis C. Over the last 30 years, Dr Hassanein has published multiple articles in scientific journals regarding different aspects of liver disease. Dr Hassanein received his initial medical training at Alexandria University in Egypt. He continued his education at the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA and Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. Dr Hassanein maintains Licensure in California, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Nevada, and Egypt. He is board certified in the areas of Hepatology, Liver Transplantation, Gastroenterology, and Internal Medicine. He is a member of both national and international associations including American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, American Gastroenterological Association, European Association for the Study of the Liver, National Arab American Medical Association, International Liver Transplantation Society, and International Gastro-Surgical Club.
Samy Metyas MD, MSC, FACR, FACP is assistance Clinical Professor of Rheumatology at University of Southern California, Also treasurer of Southern California Rheumatology Society; He is Board Certified Internal medicine and Rheumatology.
Dr Metyas graduated from Menufiya University, Egypt in 1988, then he received Master of orthopedic surgery in Egypt 1993.
He has multiple publications in peer review journals and he is Co-Editor -In Chief of Current Rheumatology Reviews Journal. He received multiple Honorable awards, including Hospital Hero award, Certificate of congressional Recognition", and California State Senate Certificate of Recognition".
Zacharia Reda, MD, FCCP, FAAP is currently the Chief Executive Officer at both South Counties Pediatric Critical Care Medical Group and Newport Children's Medical Group. Dr. Reda is also Chairman of Pediatrics Department for Fountain Valley Regional Hospital Medical Center.
Dr. Reda attended medical school in Egypt at Cairo University School of Medicine where he received his MD in 1986. He held post-doctoral training positions at various hospitals in Egypt, New York, and California. He is board certified with the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Suboard of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.
Dr. Reda's special interests include asthma, flexible bronchoscopy and pulmonary medicine, ventilatory management of pediatric respiratory failure, and pediatric acute respiratory distress syndrome. He has received multiple honors and awards for his work in Pediatric Medicine including most recently in 2012 being selected by OCMA as one of the top Physicians in Pediatric Critical Care, being featured in Los Angeles Magazine as one of the Best Doctors in California in the field of Pediatric Pulmonary and Critical Care, and receiving an AMA Physician Recognition Awards with Commendation.
Christopher Reist, MD, MBA, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the University of California, Irvine. He also serves as Assistant Dean in the School of Medicine and the Director of Medical Research for the Long Beach Veterans Affairs Healthcare System.
Dr. Reist received his undergraduate degree in chemistry and biology at Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Following medical training at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, he completed his psychiatry residency at the University of California, Irvine. He also earned a certificate in molecular biology from Smith College-New England Biolabs and an MBA from the Anderson School of Management at the University of California in Los Angeles.
Dr. Reist’s clinical interests include schizophrenia, impulsivity, PTSD, pharmacogenomics, and psychopharmacology. The National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression, the National Institute on Mental Health, and VA Medical Research have supported his research. He has served as principal investigator on many clinical trials in areas including schizophrenia, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and impulsivity. He is a member of professional societies, including the American Psychiatric Association, Psychiatric Research Society, Pacific Rim Association for Clinical Pharmacogenetics, and the Society of Biological Psychiatry. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the Psychiatric Association and has been recognized as an Exemplary Psychiatrist by the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill and was listed in “Best Doctors” for 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. His scientific work has been published in a variety of journals, including Molecular Psychiatry, Biological Psychiatry, Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, American Journal of Psychiatry, and Neuropsychiatric Genetics. He has served as an expert witness for malpractice defense and in Federal patent litigation. Lastly, he has extensive experience in psychiatric education that include CME conferences (www.desertpacific.mirecc.va.gov), developing web content, PDA applications (ePocrates, iPhone) and publishing pocket books that provide information on psychiatric disorders and treatment
Joseph R. Simpson, MD, PhD received his undergraduate degree in biology magna cum laude from Harvard University. He received his M.D. and Ph.D. from Washington University in St. Louis. His thesis work focused on neuroimaging in mood disorders and the functional neuroimaging of cognition-emotion interactions.
After completing his adult psychiatry residency at the University of California Los Angeles Neuropsychiatric Institute/West Los Angeles VA Medical Center, he completed a forensic psychiatry fellowship at the University of Southern California. He is board-certified in psychiatry and forensic psychiatry. He has published several peer-reviewed articles in neuroimaging and in forensic psychiatry. Most recently he edited the book Neuroimaging in Forensic Psychiatry: From the Clinic to the Courtroom, published by Wiley-Blackwell in April 2012.
Dr. Simpson is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Southern California and the University of California, Irvine. He is currently a Councilor for the Southern California Psychiatric Society, a District Branch of the American Psychiatric Association, and is also an active member of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law.
Jeffrey Ronald Zone, CPA, CFP, PFS, MBA, received his PD from UCLA and is a Registered Investment Adviser with SEC. He has previously worked for Arthur Andersen & Co., Bear Sterns & Co., and Cedars Sinai Hospital. Over a 30 year period Mr. Zone has held President, CFO or Board Member positions at different companies within the fields of medical services, financial services, manufacturing, international trade, principal accounting and investment practice and consumer services.
Mr. Zone has instructed and/or lectured at many accredited universities, colleges, and groups throughout the country including UCLA, Peirce College, Becker CPA Review, California CPA Foundation, American Management Association, Practical Law Institute, and the California Bar Association.
Mr. Zone is currently affiliated with Roosters (Men’s Orange County Charity Group), Share Our Self (SOS), and Laguna Beach Pageant of Masters. Not only is he a gold member of the American Institute of CPAS but he also holds memberships with the California Society of CPAS and the Financial Planning Association.
